Calgary Wedding: Sasha and Loman

I entered the hall at the Rundle Community Centre about at hour earlier than when I was supposed to be there. It was snowing with freezing rain the night before and the roads were terrible so I wanted to make sure I get to the ceremony on time. And I was sure glad I came early because I as I was unloading my camera bag I heard a song playing and thought the DJ was testing the music. Well...he wasn't. It was Loman singing! His strong voice filled the room with this beautiful melody and I could only imagine the feelings it would arise in guests and most importantly - Sasha... Loman gave us all a little scare when he ended up in the hospital with burst colon several days before the wedding but he was released home on Friday and I'm happy he was strong enough to devote the song to Sasha. There was not a single dry eye, I was trying to brush the tears away myself (well I kinda needed to keep shooting, right?)

You might remember this couple from a post a few months back. They are so perfect for each other, I love being around them and I wanted you to know the REAL them as well:

Me: How did you guys meet?

Sasha: We met 12 years ago at a pool hall. I was very young, and he was older, and at that time I of course wanted him, but I was too young so he pushed me away. With that being said, we kind of drifted our separate ways, but always kept in contact through email. A few years later, he professed his undying love for me, for which of course I thought was bs, and never gave him the time of day. (Funny enough, I have saved emails from him going back to 2005 lol-where he actually said if I ever gave him the chance one day, he would make me his wife and look after my daughter like she was his own - true story)...We'd exchange a few emails a year. In the mean time, he got married and divorced (apparently he said to get over his feelings for me), and I ended up in a long term relationship from which I produced a child. Then, just over 2 years ago, we started talking again - email and phone. He was still in a relationship, as I was I. Our relationships ended, we ended up finally meeting again (we hadn't seen each other in about 4 years prior, he came once to say hi after Elizabeth was born) and well, the rest is history. He said he knew I was young, and he needed to let me go to make my mistakes, grow up and become the woman that I am - he actually did the right thing. He said he kept his distance, but always let his presence be known. I think we think this was fate....he said he was always in love with me - and his persistence paid off ;) Almost brings a tear to my glass eye LOL! j/k...

Me: How did Loman propose?

Sasha: Ok, so ahhh, LOL, you're going to love this - he proposed to me on my birthday last year while I was on the toilet. Literally LOL! I have a complex about turning 30 (which happens next month EGAD!), so on my 29th birthday I was having a mental breakdown. He knew how upset I was, and he figured that would cheer me up. So, I'm on the toilet, and he comes in and says, is there anything I can do to make your day better, and I said no - I just want it to be over. LOL so off he goes, he told me after that he went out on the deck, quickly called my dad and asked his permission, he already had the ring, so then he came in, got on his knee and proposed to me - right on the toilet LOL! Needless to say, it did cheer up my day, but now he's got to somehow top that one for my 30th hahaha....

Me: What is the main thing you value about Loman adn your relationship?

Hmmm, the main thing I value. Wow, that's a toughie. I'd have to say unconditional love. We fight like cats and dogs - literally, we have a very fiery relationship, but you know - we always stick it through, work it out and still love each other at the end of the day. And, he's brought out the real me, he allows me to be me, encourages me to be who I am and vice versa. We're very understanding of each other and we compliment each other very well in each others faults. We're two very unique people-we're very different and it's just hard to explain the dynamic we have. Through all these years and the crap we've gone through to still make it here today where we are is incredible.

I love stories like that, Sasha!! You guys are truly fantastic and I was honored to be part of your special day. I wish you all the happiness from the bottom of my heart and I love you both very much!
